North East Snow Storms Meet Justified & Timothy Olyphant: Just found the show a few days ago…Reading Elmore Leonard’s character, Deputy U. S. Marshal Raylan Givens, years ago, I got a real kick out of Leonard’s creation. Almost as real and as interesting as LaBrava, Raylan is one of Leonard’s most well-rounded characters. The writing, production and superb acting of the FX series Justified is a great credit to Elmore, and to Raylan.

Obviously, Mr. Leonard had a say in the choice of Olyphant as Raylan because he’s near perfect in the role. From his sexy walk (Is there a sexier walk- or man- in Hollywood?) to just the right amount of humor, working a role replete with a convincing derring do, the actor’s output over five seasons, now in its sixth, is impressive. He’s got Raylan’s East Kentucky accent and Harlan County attitude. Add the hat and the series is appealing as all git-out.

Walter Goggins as Boyd Crowder is amazing: an imaginative and bravura performance. The large cast of assorted druggies, criminals and miscreants, in addition to the solid characters of supporting U. S. Marshals- one, Tim, convincing as an Afghan War vet, a sniper, is striking in its proficiency. From the writing to the casting to the makeup and sets, Justified is worth the time, and the investment to own the series. Men get to see Raylan’s bravery and in-your face attitude overlaid by finesse; women get to enjoy what we, always against our better judgment, like best: a bad good boy, or a good bad boy; and even Miss Manners learns a few tips on Southern protocols. That is when folks aren’t shooting other folks at point blank range. But even then, they usually say a few polite words, or many, before they do so. This show’s a hoot.

American soldiers stationed in the Middle East are fighting the ongoing war against extraterrestrial, squid-like Kaiju as well as local insurgents and the viewer is invited (rather forcefully I might add) to tag along.

According to the movie summary at the top of this page (and IMDB) "Monsters: Dark Continent" is a sequel to the excellent 2010 "Monsters" although this one wasn't directed by Gareth Edwards and swings more towards action adventure than creature horror and includes a significantly higher density of "adult" content. It sure would be cool if at some point one of these movies would give us at least one scientific character so we could get a little insight into what's going on (sequels are usually known for that) but instead we get a bunch of tools radiating testosterone and blowing up stuff (when they're not screaming or crying) all the while the camera is flailing chaotically to help the viewer "feel" the action... oh, and there's also some excellent CGI aliens usually off in the background which is prolly the only reason anyone would watch this in the first place.

"Dark Continent" obviously had a decent budget but unlike the first film, everyone in this one sucks... and by that I mean everyone, so that in the end I honestly didn't give a rats pajamas whether these "defenders of Earth" defeated any aliens and when the last 30 minutes introduced a sort of "Dances with Wolves" bonding-with-the-natives in an effort to engender sympathy, it was too little too late. My advice is to watch the original again and skip this one. :o)

This is probably an ideal show for high school and maybe college aged students. That being said, I am 30 and can't stop watching this show. It is so ridiculous, but I love it.

If the pilot episode is any indicator, Better Call Saul has the potential of becoming AMC's next hit series, esp. among Breaking Bad fans. I really enjoy Vince Gilligan's unique creative style. IMO, Breaking Bad was one of the best written & produced TV series to date. Therefore, my expectations were fairly high and I wasn't left disappointed. Looking forward to the second episode. Great mixture of humor, suspense/surprise.

Updated after episode 2 "Mijo" If you enjoyed "Breaking Bad," I highly recommend watching this series. Vince Gilligan's unique style and vision very well may have created another series equal to the brilliance of Breaking Bad. IMO, being a BB fan only heightens the entertainment value. The prequel doesn't limit itself solely to "Saul's" character. It seemingly is introducing an array of characters who played pivotal parts in Breaking Bad. Knowing the characters beforehand made several scenes downright hilarious.

There's so many layers to this show. BB fans will instantly know a few characters, as Mike, Tuco & his special relationship with his grandmother. There's numerous questions, esp. surrounding Jimmy's personal life that adds an odd, edgy mysterious tone. Enjoyed every second.

Yup, it's always been that way - you wait about 6 hours to watch each new episode. Not sure if it's after midnight or what the time is precisely. I'd rather do it this way than buy a cable package to get AMC.

I thought the whole spirit of this show was encapsulated last season during the episode in which Ragnar is staring behind a door at every character on this show during a feast and wondering who is on his side and who is plotting against him. Even though the show has a historical underpinning to it, I think what makes it so amazing is in the fact that the producers made each and every major character someone that you are interested in seeing what their motives/struggles are. You just don't quite know who lies on which side. Think about it, pretty much every epic show out there like Game of Thrones have some dominant storylines AND some storylines that follow characters that you really have NO vested interest in. Not Vikings. Vikings is really the only show out there which the show can fork about 12 different ways with each character spotlight AND you can't wait to see how each one of them will fit into the bigger scheme.
