Review

I think the jury is still out on how well this show will recover from losing Will Gardner. That was a big loss. Josh Charles did a great job playing him. Although I am enjoying this season, there is something missing, a hole in the center of the story where he used to be. Will was a great combination of qualities both good and bad whereas the other lawyers tend to wear black hats or white hats almost exclusively.

Some of the story lines I am enjoying though are:

Eli. Eli played by the marvelous Alan Cumming has been responsible more than any other character on this show for my returning season after season. I could even make an argument for a spin off show that is entirely his, kind of like the Sol Goodman story being spun out of "Breaking Bad." I just love to watch him manage these political types.

The Michael J. Fox lawyer character, Louis: he has been incredibly strong season after season. That Fox plays him handicapped and obnoxious really makes the character special. Yet he is the one lawyer with a good home life, which is somehow believable. I would like to see this character enhanced and given more screen time.

I am enjoying David Lee more now that he has allied with Michael J. Fox. These two as a duo are quite good. I also enjoyed Nathan Lane and would like to see more of his attempting to practice law.

The red haired quirky lawyer who defends all the other lawyers when they become defendants, I love her and hope she will be on this season too.

I do enjoy Alicia, Diane, Cary and Kalinda. Finn has possibilties. From there I start losing interest and Peter I have seen enough of to last a lifetime. I would love it if he had a heart attack, died and just disappeared from the whole show. Then Eli could move over to managing these much more interesting characters.
