The trailer does not represent the film at all really, so be warned. This is not an action film. It is however, one of the best films you will watch in this decade. Please prepare yourself to see something that is UNLIKE anything you have seen before. And, characteristic of Latin American art (the director is Mexican), there is both high drama and magical realism. But MY GOD, this is a great film. It's set almost entirely in a grimy Broadway theater -- backstage primarily. Michael Keaton is a desperate middle aged has-been actor directing and starring in a new play about which he is very insecure. He is a tragic figure, as are the others, but there is wonderful comedy throughout.



This is Shakespearean. This is the finest piece of work I have seen in many years.



Watch this film at least three times (it's that rich and dense) and get your friends to do the same.
